Jack Medlin Obituary

Mr. Jack Arnold Medlin, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, while a resident of C.W. Tucker, Jr. Nurse Care Center. He was born on October 11, 1929, to Nell Mildred Medlin and Clyde Holt Medlin in Hamlet, NC. He is survived by his sister Nell Medlin Rabon, and brother-in-law Thomas E. Rabon of Lexington, SC; sister-in-law Marie Westbrook Medlin of Valrico, FL; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his twin sister Jean Medlin McDuffie; sister Rosalie Medlin Hale; brothers Clyde Huguelet Medlin, Jules Gilbert Medlin, and Frank Carroll Medlin. Mr. Medlin has a deep love for his family.

A member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Mr. Medlin proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He was stationed during the Korean Conflict as a photographer in Denver, CO, Savannah, GA, and England. The highlight of his later years was a flight and visit to the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C. sponsored by the Honor Flight Network.

Settling in L.A., CA after his military service, he attended the Art Center College of Design where he received a BA in Arts. He worked 4 years for Rocketdyne, a company that designed and manufactured rocket engines for NASA space shuttles. In 1961, he left Rocketdyne and became self-employed. While in California, he was a member and office holder in the Masonic Temple, an organization that was dear to his heart. After retiring, he moved to Lexington, to be near his sister and not far from his Hamlet, NC home place.

A graveside memorial will be held at a later date in the Mary Love Cemetery in Hamlet, NC.

Many thanks to the staff of Ralpha Residential Care, C.W. Tucker, Jr. Nurse Care Center, Heartstrings Hospice, who lovingly provided outstanding care for Mr. Medlin.
