Haskell Bruce Rice, age 66 of Gilbert, SC, passed away on Friday, April 30th at Lexington Medical Center. Haskell was born in Lexington County to James W. and Mildred McCartha Rice and was the youngest of three siblings. After retiring from Amick Processing, Haskell enjoyed spending his time watching classic television shows and hanging out with his beloved pet chihuahua, Spot. Haskell was predeceased by his father and mother, sister Linda Gammons and brother-in-law Bobby Gammons. He is survived by his brother Wayne Rice (Marisol) of Blythewood, SC; nephew Dean Smith of Gilbert; nieces Ronda Smith-Allen (Michael) of Fort Mill, SC and Jennifer (Andres) and Sarah Rice of Queens, NY; great-nephew Dalton Smith of Gilbert; great-nieces Haley Shealy (Donnie) of Greenville, SC, Lila Thompson of Fort Mill, and Violeta Rice Ortega of Queens; and great-great nephew Liam Shealy of Greenville. The family will hold a public graveside service Wednesday, May 5th at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 246 St. Paul's Church Road, Gilbert, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The family wishes to extend their thanks to all of the doctors and nurses at Lexington Medical Center, the congregation at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Barbara Kneece and several extended family members who watched over Haskell, who was loved and will be greatly missed.
