November 7, 1937 – September 9, 2021

Gaston - Harold Amick, 83, of Gaston, SC “PawPaw” entererd the everlasting presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 9, 2021 after a brief battle with Covid. Born in 1937 in Gilbert, SC he was the son of Kenneth A. Amick and Popie Crout Amick.

Harold is survived by his wife of 63-years, Annette Clifton of Hampton, SC; sons, Bruce Amick (Cindy), Mark Amick (Kelly), and Greg Amick; grandchildren, Stephen Amick (Lauren), Bryce Amick (Savannah), Julia Shaffer (Bryan), Christopher Amick and Hannon Amick; great-grandchildren, Emerson Amick, Elijah Amick, and Anna Bryce Amick; siblings, Rembert J. Amick, Betty Crout (Edward), and Dennis J. Knight.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, siblings, Alton “Pete” Amick, Kenneth Albarhett “Ab” Amick, and Darryl Amick.

A graduate of Gilbert High School Class of 1956, Harold moved to Columbia living with his sister Betty and brother-in-law Edward. He served with the SC Army National Guard 751st Headquarters Detachment & Ordnance Battalion between 1956-1966. Upon leaving the SCANG he began his career with Lance Inc. that lasted for 32-years until retirement in 1998. Never being one that could handle not having something to do, he later worked transporting and delivering vehicles with Palmetto Bus Sales and Dick Dyer Automotive and was a valued team member until his passing.

Throughout his lifetime, he has been an active member in several Baptist Churches here in the Columbia area. His current membership was with the First Baptist Church of Columbia where he served as a greeter and usher in addition to being a participating member of the Bible Survey Class of Senior Adults. Harold was an active member of the Woodman of the World, West Columbia Chapter 273, a Mason and Shriner.

His family was his heart and joy! Whether it be at Gamecock football games, camping trips, barbecuing or tending the farm, his family time with his loved ones was of the utmost importance to him. A country boy at heart, he loved gardening and sharing the produce with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

From the family, a heartfelt “Thank You” to all staff at the Lexington Medical Center involved in the care of Harold Amick including the Emergency, North Tower, and the 4th Floor ICU units.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at Calvary Chapel; 1156 Barr Road, Lexington, SC on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, Columbia, SC for the TV Ministry. A message of Condolence may be added to his obituary at www.barr-price.com.
