Glenda Allen (Glenda Ann Goodman Allen) passed away on her birthday, April 8, 2026, after a three year stay at The Pines in West Columbia, South Carolina. Born in Columbia, SC on April 8, 1935, to the late Raymond and Murlie Goodman, Glenda lived a full and vibrant life for 91 years in West Columbia; Charlottesville, VA; then back to West Columbia.
She was the loving widow of James W. Allen (Jim); and is survived by their beloved children, Mark Allen (Lisa) and Tim Allen (Jackie); her sisters, Marie Oswalt and Janice Garner (Bruce); and brother, Ray Goodman (Helen).
Glenda was a cherished church organist/pianist, dedicating her life to the art of music and service to her faith communities in both South Carolina and Virginia. Her music lifted spirits and strengthened the faith of countless congregants for over sixty years. She had an unmatched ability to blend melodies and harmony, creating a soothing environment that brought comfort and peace. She also taught hundreds of students piano lessons during this time. She retired after forty years of service to Springdale Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Springdale Baptist Church 357 Wattling Road West Columbia, SC 29170. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Springdale Baptist Church. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
