Mrs. Geraldine “Dean” Derrick Price, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. She was born on April 22, 1941 in Lexington County to the late Marion and Lilar Taylor Derrick. Devoted to her faith, she loved her Lord and Savior. Dean was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church. She worked in the textile industry where she was a seamstress and was a Certified Nurse’s Aide. In her free time, she loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, and planting beautiful flowers.
Dean leaves behind her nephews, Mike Derrick (Wendy), Doug White, Melvin Derrick and Cecil Derrick; nieces, Lisa Waters (Joey), Wendy Derrick, Brenda Zwart, Judy Enlow, Retha Goff, Rhonda Langford, Renee O’Gara, Rita Hudson, Linda Shaw, and Heather Mixon; special great-nieces and nephews that she considered as her grandchildren, Olivia Derrick, Wyatt Derrick, Kayla Libertini, and Jason Waters; sister, Sadie White; and many other great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was welcomed in Heaven by her beloved husband, Ansel “Ankey” Price; brothers, J.C. Derrick, M.L. Derrick, Ray Derrick, Edward Derrick, and Floyd Derrick; sisters, Lizzie Mae Hall, Lorene Clamp, Annie Rose Asbill, Katherine Smith, and Connie Hoover; and nephews, Charles Gunter and Jimmy Hoover.
Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 noon, Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike Derrick, Larry Taylor, Doug White, Melvin Derrick, Gerald Smith, and Joey Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
