Gerald Cromer Amick, 76, of West Columbia, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021. Born in Lexington County on September 8, 1944, he was the son of the late James Colie Amick and Mary Lillian Harmon Amick. He was the husband of Mildred (Perry) Amick, with whom he shared more than 55 years of love, laughter and life adventures.
Mr. Amick was a graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 1964. He was an electrician by trade. He retired from Boykin Contracting, Inc., and he worked with Shealy and Sons Electric for many years. He was known to many as the local handyman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Mildred, his son Gerald Dean Amick (Frankie) and daughter Sandy Amick Roland (David), his grandchildren Clint Amick, Kayla Amick, Boogie Errickson (Sam), Justin Roland, Jessica Gill, Jonathan Roland, Jordyn Gill and Jacob Roland, along with 10 great grandchildren, his brother-in-law Jimmy Perry (Kay) and Don Perry, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Leola Gunter, Lorene Schumpert, Dale Waits, Virginia Amick and Ann Wingard, and brothers, Aaron Amick, Edward Amick, David Amick and Colie J. Amick.
A service for Mr. Amick will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Barr-Price Funeral Home, 609 Northwood Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens located at 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. The family will greet friends on Monday, February 15, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Jimmy Amick, Kelvin Woods, Brett Goff, David Amick, James Amick, Phillip Amick, Kirby Johnson and Jamie Perry. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Corley, Dylan Waits and James Little.
