Funeral services for Mrs. Georgie Roof Eargle, 90, will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Cedar Grove Lutheran Church with the Rev. Leon Rawl officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel. Georgie passed away at home peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026. She was born on November 26, 1935 in Lexington County, South Carolina to the late John J. and Eula Price Roof. Georgie was an active member of Cedar Grove Lutheran Church where she was member of WELCA, and retired from Food Service at Lexington County School District 3. Georgie was well known in the community for her culinary talents, cooking and preparing sweets; especially her famous cinnamon rolls for weddings, funerals, and other special events.
Surviving are her sons, George Eargle (Cathi) and Robert Eargle; daughters, Susan Eargle and Deborah Poole (Steve); grandchildren, Heather, Erin, Adam, and Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Haylen, Thomas. Raylan, Griffin, James, Calhoun, Keller, and one on the way. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Maxie Eargle, brothers, John K. and Vance Roof; sisters and “fire aunts”, Margaret Taylor, Betty Oxner, Nelda Tayor, Edith Shealy, Carole Bates, Doris Waites and Alice Roof.
