George Lewis Rogers, Jr.
May 27, 1944 – October 11, 2025
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
George Lewis Rogers, Jr., 81, of Columbia, South Carolina, entered into his eternal home with the Lord on October 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 27, 1944, at Baptist Hospital in Columbia, George was the beloved son of the late George Lewis Rogers, Sr. and Lillie Mae Taylor. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1962, where he served proudly as drum major and played in the school band. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968.
Following his service, George built a successful career as a realtor in Columbia and the surrounding areas. He was known for his honesty, kindness, and dedication to helping others find a place to call home.
George had a deep love for music and often found joy in playing the piano. He also loved to travel and had a heart for creating and preserving family memories through his passion, Rogers Entertainment. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family, who will forever cherish the laughter, love, and legacy he leaves behind.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Victoria Rogers; his children, Chad Rogers, Jennifer Spires (Jason), Lisa Overstreet (David), and Kelly Deal (James); grandchildren, Corey Abercrombie, Justin Toole, Chase Hinkle, Cameron Spires (Madison), Luke Rogers, and Teagan Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Levi Abercrombie, Brylee Toole, and Josie Spires. He is also survived by his sister, Kaye Edwards (Kenny); nephew, Stuart Edwards (Caroline); nieces, Bentley Edwards and Brooke Edwards; and great-nephew, Jack Edwards.
George was predeceased by his parents, Lillie Mae Taylor and George Lewis Rogers, Sr.; his daughter, Dana Leanne Rogers; and his granddaughter, Taylor Morgan Spires.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Heart of Hospice, the Lexington Medical Center Oncology Unit, and LMC MSA Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2025 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Quilts of Valor Foundation in honor of veterans. Donations may be sent to Betty Gall on Venmo (@ygallo).
George’s family takes comfort in knowing that while he is absent from the body, he is now present with the Lord.
“Cancer can take away my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul. Those three things are going to carry on forever” -George’s motto
