Gary "Scooter/Cowboy" Phillips

Gary “Scooter/Cowboy” Phillips, 76, of Lexington, SC passed away on December 23, 2025 after a brief illness. He was born December 12, 1949 in Lincoln, Alabama to the late Oscar and Kathryn Phillips. 

Scooter’s favorite past time always involved horses. Whether it was trail riding or barrel racing, that’s where he felt most at home. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in his life and always knew where to find what you might be looking for. 

Surviving are his daughter, Laura (Terry) Craft of West Columbia; son, Michael (Taylor Anne) Phillips of Gilbert; granddaughter, Elizabeth Craft; grandsons, Bishop and Rawlins Phillips; great-granddaughters, Mattie and Tonya Robinson; brother, Ed (Tammy) Phillips; sisters Mary Elizabeth Mitchell, Virginia Lackey, & Jane (Ric) Stapleton.

He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Phillips; sister-in-law, Pam Phillips; brothers-in-law, Ed Lackey and Mitch Mitchell; and grandson, Madden Phillips. 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11 AM at Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln, Alabama. Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, assisted the family.
