Freddie Ray Shull
West Columbia-Freddie Ray Shull, 74, died unexpectedly, but peacefully at his home on Friday, October 5, 2018. Born in West Columbia to Leon and Ila Mae Day Shull on November 15, 1943. Freddie was happily married to Beverly Culbreth Shull for 38 years. Freddie graduated from Brookland-Cayce High school in 1962. After high school he joined the National Guard and retired from the Main Commissary at Fort Jackson.
For anyone who knew Freddie knew how much he loved his family, fishing, hunting, flea markets and spending time with his brothers. His days consisted of keeping the roads busy, chasing yard sales and flea market deals; working on tractors, lawn mowers and fixing anything that had a motor. Every Saturday you could find him at the crack of dawn setting up with his finds of the week. Well-known and respected by his flea market buddies.
He was the type of person to give you the shirt off his back, be there when you needed him and do whatever he could to help. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed spoiling his grand babies and his great niece. Every visit to Nana and Papas was like Christmas morning, always knowing that Papa would have something special just waiting on them; even if it was just some boiled peanuts.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; son, JJ (Jenny); granddaughter, Kirsten (Kollin); grandsons, Trace and Maddox; great grandson, Kane; brother, Mickey (Kay); sister in-law, Peggy and beloved in-laws Wayne, Charlie, Greg and Ray and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Leon and Ila Shull and his twin brother Eddie Shull.
Freddie and Eddie have celebrated 74 years together and with their birthday approaching, November 15th, they were not going to let this birthday be any different.
Celebration of Life will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home on Friday, October 12, at 11am. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
