Freda J. Lester Obituary

 

Freda Hicks Lester, 78, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Born in Caretta, West Virginia, on January 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Flossie Hicks. She was the wife of the late Ott Lester. Mrs. Lester was a wife, mother, homemaker, and a babysitter throughout her lifetime. She was a member of Lake Murray Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading books, visiting the ocean, and devoting her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her family.

Surviving are her three daughters, Jennifer Lester Thomas (Gary) of Saluda, SC, Rosalie Lester of Pelion, SC, and Magdelina Young (David) of Harriman, Tenn.,  five grandchildren, Tyler Harris (Alicia), Jada Gary, Anna Grace Thomas, Owen Thomas, and Nicole Ortiz (Jorge),  four great grandchildren, Zayden Gary, Dolce Gea, Yazmine Ben-Ortiz, and Zakary Delgado-Ortiz, and one great-great grandchild Ky’Andre Ortiz, one sister Debbie Mundy (Kerry),  along with many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lester was preceded in death by her husband, Ott Lester, her daughter, Kimberly Toole Cureton, one brother, Harley Hicks, and four sisters, Violet Smith, Lois Boyd, Phyllis Randall, and Barbara Randall. 

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, April 6th, 2025 at Barr Price Funeral Home Historical Leesville Chapel, Pastor Wesley Mayfield officiating. The family will receive friends and family an hour before the service. Many hands and organizations have helped provide care to Mrs. Lester over the past few years. The family would like to give a special thank you to Lexington Medical Center, Dr. Christopher Marshall and Carolina Pulmonary, Dr. Benjamin Askins and Lexington Family Practice, Saluda Nursing Center, the Heritage at Lowman Home, and Agape Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
