Frances Helen Rives

Frances Rives, 88, of Columbia, South Carolina, died following a brief illness at Richland Memorial on November 10, 2025.

She was born in Queens, New York, on April 9, 1937, to John and Catherine (Kerwick) Martin. She grew up in South Ozone Park, New York, attending public schools before studying at the Mary Immaculate School of Nursing, Jamaica, Queens, New York, from which she received her Registered Nursing degree in 1957.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Henry Rives, and is survived by her loving sons, John Paul Rives (wife Laura) and daughter, Sara of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and William Henry Rives (wife Christine) son, William, daughters, Katy and Sarah of Columbia, South Carolina; her sister, Patricia McCormick; 4 grandchildren; and 5 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11am Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church of Lexington, SC (Fran & John were founding members 30 years ago). The family will receive friends following the service from 1pm to 3pm at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel.  She will be buried at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens in Brandon, Florida.
