Florrie (Flossie) Reed Brown, 90, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed from this earth on Friday, September 25, 2020. She was born on September 29, 1929 in Swansea, to the late J.O. and Carrie Bell Strickland Reed, Sr.
Flossie spent most of her girlhood in Lexington, growing up with her siblings, Joe, Carolyn, Bob, and Bill. She graduated from what is now North Greenville University, and went on to complete her RN certification at the Baptist Hospital in Columbia. She left nursing to raise her five children but returned to home nursing care in her 50s and continued on until her mid-80s. Flossie has spent the last 5 years among friends at Morningside of Lexington. She was a skilled seamstress and craftswoman. Affectionately known as Flossie by many and Ma by her children, she is survived by her children, Bruce (Diane) Brown of Batesburg, Debi (Tod) Stonecipher of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Sam (Bobbie) Smith, Tiffany (Shelly) Rabon, Anthony, Christopher, Kristen, and Alissa; as well as numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children Teresa, Mike, and Andy, and all of her siblings.
Her life will be celebrated with family and friends, on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, what would have been her 91st birthday, at Red Bank Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for visitation at 1 PM with the funeral service to follow at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Red Bank Baptist Church Missions. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.
