Eugene Louis Bergelt

Services for Eugene Louis Bergelt, 79, will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. He was a son of the late Charles Roy and Hermine Henrietta Bergelt. He was a member of the America Legion, the Chosin Few, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and the Drill Instructor Association. He received the Silver Star, President Unit Citation with two stars, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one star, Korean Service Medal with one silver star & bronze star, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean President Unit Citation. Mr. Bergelt was a retired broker with Tom Jenkins Realty. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P. O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675-8517
Mr. Bergelt is survived by his wife Katherine Childress Bergelt, sons; Perry, Thomas, Daniel, Tory Bergelt, daughter, Debra Powers, brother Phillip Bergelt, 37 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
