Ellsworth Ray DeMasters, Jr., age 71, of Lexington, SC, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025 at Carroll Campbell Place. He was born July 25, 1953, the son of Ellsworth and Joan DeMasters. Born and raised in Fairfax, VA, he earned a BA in Biology from George Mason University and later an MBA from Webster University.
Ray dedicated over 30 years of his life to the United States Postal Service, a career that saw him and his family live in several states, including Virginia, West Virginia, South Carolina, and eventually Kentucky. Upon his retirement, he returned to South Carolina to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
A faithful man, Ray cherished God, family, and world travel with his devoted wife. A lifelong music enthusiast and performer in various groups, his love of travel took him and Evelyn across the US and the world.
He was a loving husband of 46 years to his wife, Evelyn; a cherished father to David DeMasters (Kristy), Laura Beckham (Chris), and Matthew DeMasters (Kim); and a proud grandfather to his six grandchildren: Jacob, Warner, Jacen, Woods, Campbell, and Lochlan, all of Lexington; brother to Edward DeMasters(Darnell) and Sara Payne, of Virginia; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, 609 Northwood Road, Lexington, SC. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. His funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard’s in Hastings, PA on June 20th at 11:00 am.
