Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Rast Lee

Betty Lee, 93, passed away June 15, 2026. She was born March 11, 1933 to the late Ernest Hugo Rast and Franeclla Caldwell Rast and was raised in Dixianna, SC. Mrs. Lee graduated from Brookland Cayce High School and the University of South Carolina as an honor graduate in 1950.

She married Daniel H. Lee, Sr. on June 12, 1954. Mrs. Lee worked at The State Newspaper in the advertizing department. The family moved to Savannah, GA, and then to Geneve, AL, finally they returned to Columbia, SC. While there Betty worked at Richland County Library for 20 years and they rejoined Northside Baptist Church in 1979.

Surviving is her husband, Daniel H. Lee, Sr.; sisters, Shirley Rast Peagler and Mary Rast Corley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; children, Daniel H. Lee, Jr. and Jane Roseann Lee Causey; brothers, John Caldwell Rast, William B. Rast (Jim), and George E. Rast; sisters, Martha Elizabeth Rast, Rose Margaret Rast Mack, and Ernestine Rast Sharpe.

A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church 4347 Sunset Blvd. Lexington, SC 29072. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
