Edwin Horton Obituary

Edwin Eugene Horton, born on November 16, 1959, in Utica, New York, passed away peacefully at home in Columbia, South Carolina, on November 1, 2025.

“Ed” was a proud Army veteran and had a long, successful career in the shoe business. Even in retirement, he found himself busy in real estate and as the neighborhood watch. Ed approached every role in life—work, family, and friendship—with loyalty, laughter, and heart.

A master storyteller, “Fast Eddie” had a gift for turning even the smallest moments into something memorable. His quick wit and endless stories could light up any room. He cherished his family above all else and never missed a birthday, holiday, or any reason to have a slice of cake.

Ed had a love for basketball and an even greater love for a good deal. He could be found on a court or scouring the town for a great garage sale. His loyal dogs, Coco and Gracie, were never far from his side. Always checking in on friends and family, Ed had a way of making everyone around him feel valued and loved.

Edwin is survived by his loving wife, Beverly St. George; his son, Stephen Horton, and wife Dawn, and their daughters Ivelisse “EV” and Margaret “Maggie Dru;” and by his step-daughters, Marisha Dunkerly, and her three children, and Amelia Head, and her two children. He is also survived by his sisters, Cindy (John Paul) Brado, Susan Santilli, Shelly (Mike) Betrus, and Leslie Slocum, as well as his cousin, Roberta Webb.

Edwin was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Roberta Horton; his aunt, Mary Clary; and his sisters, Darlene Brado Koppes and Sheila Kay.
