Edward Thomas Wright of Batesburg, SC, 94, passed away at home on Friday, May 4, 2018.
Born on December 7, 1923, in Syracuse, New York, Ed was the son of George Thomas and Elva Burtis Wright.
He is survived by his wife Jean (Thorpe) of 71 years and their four children: Jody (Glenn) Kusant, Tom (June) Wright, Donna (Bruce) Coon, and Teresa (Bill) Kusant.
Ten Grandchildren: Jennifer Spangenberg Potter, April Wright, Ashlee Wright Morse, Brian Cole, Kasey Cole, Thomas Luciani, Tessa Luciani Vereen, Katilyn Kusant, Emilie Kusant Hruza, and William Kusant, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his brother James Wright and his sister Beatrice George both of Norwich, NY.
He was predeceased by siblings Dorothy Townsend, Minnie Teft, Mildred Jones, Richard Wright, Earl Wright and Mary Schermerhorn.
He grew up on the family farm in Preston attending High School in Norwich, NY. After graduation he joined the Army, and served as a member of the Military Police Corp during World War II. He married Jean Thorpe September 16, 1946. Ed worked for 34 years as a New York State Forest Ranger, District 7, Sherburne Office. After retiring he worked for nine years as a bus driver for Bainbridge - Guilford Central School District. A tall quiet gentle man, respected and loved for the way he lived and cared.
A memorial service and placement of ashes will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia.
