Services for Edward D. Mack, 81, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Gaston with Dr. Larry Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Born in Gaston, he was the son of the late Newlin Barton and Frances Fallaw Mack. Mr. Mack graduated from Swansea High School and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War serving on the USS English and the USS Sierra. Mr. Mack was a lifetime resident of Gaston and a retired brick mason. After retirement, he especially enjoyed crafting rustic furniture from Sparkleberry trees of which many family and friends are proud owners of some of his handiwork. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Guy Eula Mack, daughters; Diane Mack of Little Mountain, Donna M. Culbertson (Terry) of Pelion, Daye M. Roberts (Alan) of Spanaway, Washington, son; Edward N. Mack (Adrian) of Gaston, sister; Rebecca Mack of Sylvia, NC, 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Mack was predeceased by sisters; Nevelyn M. Johnson and Margie M. Hutto, brothers; Bryce, Joe and Robert Mack. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gaston or the American Cancer Society.
