Edith M Leaphart

Services for Edith McCartha Leaphart, 82, will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, July 20th, 2025 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 1273 Calks Ferry Rd Lexington, SC 29072.  Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mrs. Leaphart passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Born in Lexington, SC, she was the daughter of the late Luther Franklin, Sr. and Gladys Keisler McCartha. She was a life-long member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church.  An avid gardener, she loved her birds, blossoms, blooms, family & friends.

She is survived by her children, Roger Leaphart (Margaret) and Donna Yarbrough (Dave); grandchildren, Caroline Strehl (Luke), Jacob Leaphart (Samantha), Jane Yarbrough, and Wyatt Yarbrough;  great granddaughter Georgia Strehl; honorary granddaughter Lisa Buzhardt (Brit); siblings Howard McCartha (Ann), LF McCartha, Jr. (Betty Jo), and and Helen Smith (Larry).

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Wyman Leaphart; son, Allen Leaphart; sisters Margaret Miller, Catherine Gable, & Carolyn Whittle; brother, Brice McCartha; brothers-in-law, Grover Miller, Wayne Gable, and, Melvin Whittle.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Heart of Hospice and her “girls” Jane Yarbrough and Lisa Buzhardt for taking such good care of her, and the many friends and neighbors who provided unwavering support, compassion & care.
