Dorothy Turner Jones

Dorothy “Dot” Turner Jones, 92, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on June 5, 2025. She was born on July 2, 1932 in Columbia, South Carolina to Virgil and Aleene Turner. Dot grew up in the midlands of South Carolina, lived on Lake Murray, retired to the beach at Oak Island, NC and settled with her daughter in Irmo, SC.

“Fine as wine in the summertime”, Dot enjoyed the beach, music, photography and was a pioneer in the art of selling thrift finds on eBay during her retirement years on Oak Island. Dot was predeceased by her parents, Virgil Brinson Turner and Alene Roland Turner; her sisters, Betty Jean Turner (Brown) and Felicia LaNora Turner (Johnson); her brothers, Harold Brunson Turner and Lloyd Henry Turner; and her son, Luther “Butch” Byron Jones III. Dot is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Whisennant) and Angie Jones; her son, Shannon Jones (Cindy); her brother, Bobby Wayne Turner; her sister, Robin Turner Martin; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Dot’s life will be held on June 10, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with a visitation at 5:00pm and service at 6:00pm.
