Dorothy Jackson Obituary

West Columbia – Dorothy Jean Jackson, 94, passed away Tuesday, July 7th, 2020.  She was born in Oklahoma to the late Shadrick and Lottie MacIntosh Johnson.

In Fresno, CA, during WWII, Dorothy met her love of 54 years, Harvey E. Jackson. Together they ran the family business, Jackson’s Grocery Store.  On top of running a business, and raising a family, Dorothy was very involved in her church.  She was a member, pianist, and Sunday School teacher for Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church.  She had passion for so many things in her life, and had several charities that she supported over the years.  She loved being outside with her plants and flowers, but anyone that really knew her, knew that her driving force was her family.  After her children came into adulthood she made sure she wasn’t just a regular granny, but an ultra-special grandma to her grandchildren.

Dorothy leaves behind a family that will miss her dearly.  She is survived by her daughters, Rossie Bowen (Steve), Rebecca Nobbs (Jim); son, Larry Jackson Sr.; her adored grandchildren, Larry Jackson, Jr., Brian Jackson, Brent Jackson, Alyssa Jackson Fowler, Bradford Bowen, Casey Bowen (Amy), Holly Stanley (Greg), Madison Floyd (Micah), and Jackson Aaron; 9 very loved great-grandchildren; and 2 treasured great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Harvey; sisters, Mary Parum, Katherine McGraw, Ruby Johnson, Reba Lewis; and brothers, Herman Martin, and Lester Johnson.

There will be a visitation Friday, July 10th, 2020, 1:00 PM at Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, the service to follow at 2:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Pentecostal Church, 501 Church St, West Columbia, SC 29172.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Prisma Health Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care during Dorothy’s illness.
