Donald Wayne “Froggy” Mathias, 84, of Cayce, SC went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2023. Though he will be dearly missed, we know he is rejoicing with his Savior Jesus Christ, whom he served well. He was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Allen and Viola Mathias.
He is survived by his twin sons, Travis and Trevor (Misty) Mathias; brothers, Bob (Carol), Jim, and Rich (Brenda) Mathias; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lois Mathias; and sister-in-law, Stacey Mathias.
Mr. Mathias served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a Civil Engineer at the S.C. Highway Department until his retirement. He served as Deacon at Saluda River Baptist Church and was known to the children as the “Candyman.” He loved talking to people, making jokes and always sharing his love for Christ.
Visitation will be held from 5pm – 7pm, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am, Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Saluda River Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery at 1:45pm.
