Donald Cline Yonce, Sr. Obituary

Donald Cline Yonce, Sr., a lifelong resident of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. Born on October 23, 1939, he was the beloved son of Curtis Cline Yonce and Eva Gunter Yonce.

Donald was a proud graduate of Brookland Cayce High School, Class of 1957. He was a skilled master plumber, heavy equipment operator, and mechanic. Throughout his career, Donald worked with dedication at Allied Chemical, Tiny Smith Construction, and Lowe’s Home Improvement, earning respect for his expertise and strong work ethic.

A man of deep faith in Jesus Christ, Donald was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. He enjoyed the fellowship and community found there and loved attending his "Joy of Living" Sunday school class.

Jovial and friendly, Donald was always ready to lend a helping hand. An avid supporter of the Gamecocks, he could often be found humming an old hymn or sharing scripture during dinner table conversations with friends and family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Peggy Yonce, and his son, Bobby Wayne Yonce.

Donald is survived by his son, Donald Cline Yonce, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Emi Yonce; granddaughter, Nina Yonce; and sisters, Betty Douglass and Sylvia Joyner.

Donald lived a full and meaningful life, carrying with him the values instilled by his family and community. He is remembered fondly by those who knew him and leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, faith, and joy.
