Dianne Hanna Ponder, 78, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband and three daughters. Born September 4, 1945, in Kingstree, SC, she was the daughter of J. Ed Hanna and Marie Epps Hanna.
She graduated from Kingstree High School class of 1963 and was a proud Alumni of North Greenville Junior College and Columbia Commercial College. She worked for Lexington School District One for eight years before accepting a supervisory position with the South Carolina Court of Appeals where she also served on several judicial boards and committees. She retired in 2009 with twenty-eight years combined service for the State of South Carolina. Dianne was a dedicated member of Mt. Horeb Church, and was a loving wife, mother, Nanna, and friend.
Dianne is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James B. “Jim” Ponder; daughters, Doris “Dee Dee” Corley (Scott), Dana Myers (Lawrence), Charity Epting (Gene); grandchildren, Randi Stephens (Jack), Hanna Corley, Brittany Willis (Brendon), Brandon Myers (Devon), Peyton Smith, Kersten Epting, Melissa Epting, Tessa Smith, Cheyenne Epting; great-grandchildren, Kayden Corley, Karson Corley, Harper Stephens, Paisley Myers, Forrest Acre, Sawyer Stephens, Porter Myers, and Rylee Acre; and many extended family members, and friends who became family along the way.
She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Doris Thompson; brother-in-law, Tommy Thompson; her parents; and in-laws, Bert and Victoria Ponder.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 2-3 p.m. at Mt. Horeb Church, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 3 p.m. At Dianne’s request, casual dress is requested. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. At the request of family, a private burial service will be held at a later date.
