Dennis Calvin Gainey

Mr. Dennis Calvin Gainey, 74, of Leesville passed away at home on Monday, April 13, 2026. He was born on April 25, 1951 in Hartsville, South Carolina to the late Cecil Nolan and Ethel Lee Malloy Gainey. Dennis was a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. He worked in Agriculture Research for many years and enjoyed traveling on the road until his retirement in 2022. Dennis found joy in meeting up with his “Old Men” breakfast group every morning and always looked forward to fellowship with them. He loved to tend to his garden, and growing vegetables.     

Dennis is survived by his sons, Calvin “Cal” Gainey (Madeline), and William “Nolan” Gainey (Mandy); mother of his children, Elizabeth “Libby” Balk Roberson; brother, Johnny Gainey; and grandchildren, Liam Gainey and Piper Gainey. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Gainey; brother, Shelton Gainey; sisters, Barbara Jean Gainey, Sylvia Gainey, and Patricia Gainey.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 at Ridge Crest Memorial Park in Batesburg with the Rev. Randy Green officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the Gainey family with arrangements.
