Denise "Renae" Smith

Denise “Renae” Smith, 66, of Lexington, SC, wife of Stanley L. Smith, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born in Elberton, GA, she was a daughter of Mary Frances Robinson Kidd and the late Ray Kidd. She grew up in Greenwood, SC and was a graduate of Greenwood High School. She married her husband Stanley, the love of her life, and moved to Pensacola, FL, to support his service in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning to Greenwood, SC, she was employed with Parrish Pharmacy and Greenwood Mills. After moving to Lexington, SC she was employed with Lexington Medical Center, where she retired. She was a devoted child of God and served her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington.

Second to her love of the Lord was her love for her family. While working outside the home, she was also a devoted homemaker and was known for her wonderful cooking which included lasagna and cheesecake. She had a personality and hospitality that made anyone feel at home while at her and Stanley’s house. She loved and was loved by many, many friends, neighbors, fellow church-goers and co-workers.  She enjoyed reading her Bible, watching Gaither videos, shopping with her grandchildren at Belk and watching Hallmark movies. However, most of all, she loved her family and made sure they knew it.

While her absence leaves a large hole in the lives of her loved ones and friends, it is of great comfort to know that she is in the presence of her Heavenly Father and of loved ones who have gone before her.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughters, Stephanie Derr of Lexington and Holly Love (Justin) of Lexington; a grandson, Jackson Love; and granddaughters, Morgan Derr, Hannah Love, and Rossie Caroline Love; a sister, Sandra Lynn Gosnell (Larry); and a nephew, Ross Doolittle (Crystal).

Visitation will be at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022. The service will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home at 10am on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 with The Reverend Dr. Cliff Vicars and Rev. Ralph Schneck. A family-only burial will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
