David Joel Price

David Joel Price, 86, went to his heavenly eternal home Thursday, March 12, 2026. David was a long time resident of Lexington county, residing in Gilbert with his beloved wife of 62 years, Henrietta Price. Born in Newberry County, a son for the late Cyrus U. and Inez Summer Price.

He was a member of the SC National Guard which he enlisted in after graduated high school. Mr. Price made his living as a truck driver. He enjoyed nature, from feeding his birds, to caring for his beehives.

David also had a passion for his many different species of orchids. Being an avid piano player, you could hear him playing his favorite tunes any afternoon from the front den of his home.

He was also known for his 1971 blue and white Volkswagen bus, a true classic just like him.

David is survived by his wife Henrietta Price, children; Connie Kennedy, Janet (Rob) Popenhagen and Mark (Adrienne) Price, brother; Theron Price, sister; Doris Johnson, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home historic B-L Chapel on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Round Hill Manna House Building Fund at 230 Persimmon Lane Lexington, SC 29072, or to the charity of one’s choice.
