David Ira Shumpert, Sr.

David Ira Shumpert, Sr., born on May 21, 1957 in Columbia, SC, passed on April 20, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Gaston, South Carolina, and worked tirelessly in the well drilling industry. David was known for his dedication to his work and his devotion to his family. He was an avid fisherman.

David is survived by his son, David Jr.; his mother, Vernelle Hall; his brother, Keith Shumpert (Joyce); his sister, Karen Shumpert Grandy (Mike); grandchildren, Reece, Luke, Oaklee and Rowan; his nieces, Ashley Pendleton and Karley Williams; and his nephews, PJ Shumpert and Justin Shumpert.

He was predeceased by his father, Boyd Shumpert; his brother, Ronald Shumpert; his nephew, Micheal Grandy; and grandparents, Julius and Eva Lucas and Ira and Annie Shumpert; and his step-father, Edward Hall.

A memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
