David H Neely

David H. Neely went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born on January 23, 1945, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late David and Lucile Neely, whom he loved dearly.

David devoted more than 40 years of his career to working as a structural steel detailer with J.A. Free & Co. and McGill Engineering Inc. He took great pride in his work and valued the lasting friendships he formed with his coworkers throughout the years.

A faithful and devoted Christian, David deeply loved the Lord and was saved and baptized at a young age. He was an early member of Earlewood Baptist Church and later attended St. Andrews Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Lexington.

David cherished time spent with his large family and was well known for his warm sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Neely; his sons, Paul Neely, Jason (Catherine) Neely, Brian Neely, Michael (Becky) Brooks; and his daughter, Gena Brooks (Luther Duffie). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary Neely, Alexis Neely (Dalton White), Richie McCullough, Ryan McCullough (Lauren Tillman), Reece McCullough, Brianna Knapper, Madison Knapper,  Alyssa (Isaiah) Jones and Will Brooks; as well as his great-grandchildren, Skyler, Easton, Emelia, Camryn, Kayden and Laney.

A visitation will be held from 10:00am - 11:00am on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with the funeral service to begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
