David A. Jones

Lexington-On Friday, September 3, 2021, David Anthony Jones, 55, met his Savior face-to-face. Born on November 8, 1965 to Bobby and Martha Jones of Chester, SC, David will be remembered as a devoted family man, beloved husband, supportive father, lover of the Word of God and close follower of Christ. 

 David is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Brenda; their five children, Emily, Jessica, Allison, Stephanie and Davidson, all of Lexington SC; his mother, Martha Jones of Anderson, SC; his brother, Joey and wife Meredith of Boiling Springs; and his in-laws, Paul and Brenis Jones of Anderson. David will be greatly missed by these and many other family members. David joins other family members who preceded him in death his father, Bobby Jones; and nephew, Ryne Brock.

 His church family will remember him as a man who chose to seek God through the study of His Word in the early morning and who brought fresh perspective to the Word of God and its truth. David asked the deepest and best questions about God’s Word. He truly loved the Word of God. 

 David had a few passions and commitments for which he was known and honored. An Honors graduate of Clemson University in 1987, David pursued more than that which his Computer Engineering degree afforded him. A member of the Project Management Institute, David was given the title of Project Management Professional. Known for attention to detail, David earned certification in Six Sigma Black Belt. With an eye for personal investment management, David became a registered investment advisor. 

 David loved football. Whether cheering for his favorite Clemson Tigers or playing touch football with his kids, David was ALL IN. He even endured a few broken ribs in the process.

 By far, his greatest love is his family: his wife; Brenda and his five gifts from God, Stephanie, Davidson, Allison, Jessica and Emily. These six were his treasure and joy!

 His family will remember David as a man of God, a man who loved the Word of God, and a man who worshiped God. In one of his last daily journal entries, David wrote prayers gleaned from the study of 2 Timothy 2 where the follower of Christ is compared to a soldier and athlete. On July 7, 2021, David wrote: “Lord, help me not focus on the things and goals of this earthly world (‘civilian affairs’). Help me compete ‘according to the rules’ of Your Kingdom goals, strategies, warfare.”

 Please join his family in remembering David at a memorial service on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 2 pm at Riverbend Community Church, 1015 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC. Visitation will follow the service. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
