David Gene Cannon

David Gene “Doc” Cannon, 67, of West Columbia, SC was called home Monday, October 26, 2020.  Born August 3, 1953 in Columbia, SC he was the son of the late Luther Gene “Luke” Cannon & Elizabeth Prince Cannon. 

A loyal Gamecock Fan win or lose, and self-described original Beach Bum he would tell you the salt water in his veins ran as deep as the ocean he so loved.  He understood the value of hard work, and was a true believer in helping anyone in need.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Coffey-Cannon; sister, Margaret “Lynn” Turner (Ken) of Hayesville, NC; brother, Lloyd “Bruce” Cannon (Patricia) of Greenville, SC; daughters, Brooke Pridgen Kelly (Rob) of Cayce, and Ashley Beth Cannon-Hall of Lexington; son, Christopher “Ryan” Smith (Mekare) of Gilbert; grandchildren, Tristan Lawson “Tripp” Pridgen, Erin “Bryce” Grace Pridgen, Caroline Elizabeth Hall, Henry Jesse “Dylan” Pridgen, Carl Joseph “C.J.” Brasington-Boozer, Brantley Ayden Smith, Eden Rose Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Raelynn Briar Hall-Costello. 

A remembrance of life has been scheduled for November 28, 2020 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Dolorosa Worship Center Church of God, located at 365 Old Charleston Rd., Pelion, SC 29123.  The immediate family will be receiving family and friends from 10:15 to 10:45 at the church.  Please remember that masks are required and social distancing measures will be in place.
