Darrell Gene Huffstetler, 67, resident of Gilbert, was surrounded by family went he went home to be with the Lord, after many years of valiantly fighting his illnesses with grace, on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. A memorial service will be held 10:00a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 100 S Woodside Pkwy, West Columbia, SC 29169.

Darrell is survived by his beloved family: wife, Cindy Huffstetler; second father of Sarah Dymock; daughter, Katie Randall (Paul); grandchildren, Seth Haynes, Baylee Haynes, Luke Randall, McKenzie-Jean Randall; granddog, Clara-Belle; siblings, Larry Huffstetler (Connie), Gayle Sipes (Dwight), Scott Huffstetler; sister-in-law, Patsy Dabbs (Frank), sister-in-law, Georgia North; and special friend, Joe North; as well aunts, Bobbie Huffstetler & Vernice Huffstetler; uncle, Randolph Brunnemer; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Darrell cherished many relationships with special friends that we consider family that are too numerous to name here. You know who you are.

He is predeceased by his parents, E. Ray Huffstetler and Edith Brunnemer Huffstetler; daughter, Marrissa Huffstetler Haynes; sister-in-law, Cheryl Huffstetler; and brother-in-law, Bobby Georgeson.

Darrell worked in the family business, Pay-N-Pak food store, with his father for a time. He worked as director of operations &  security at Still Hopes Episcopal Home for approximately 20 years, which he greatly enjoyed making many lasting friendships. He also enjoyed working as director of facilities at Edventure Children’s Museum for several years before retiring due to illness.

Darrell was an avid hunter and fisherman while his health allowed. He enjoyed tinkering, wood-working, working outdoors, following Carolina Gamecocks sports, cooking barbeque and making hash from the family recipe. The most important aspects of Darrell’s life were his relationship with Christ, his earthly family, and family in Christ. He treasured his role of usher at Westside First Church of God then West Columbia Central Church of the Nazarene, doing his best to serve in this role even as his health deteriorated. He also enjoyed serving the church by helping cook meals at fellowships.

We would like to thank all who were involved in Darrell’s excellent healthcare including but not limited to, Drs. Martin and Martha Hester, CIG/SCEC, MUSC GI/Hepatology/Transplant/STICU, Roper Inpatient PT, SCOA, Crescent Hospice, and all the other doctors, nurses, and support staff that have cared for Darrell over the years. We would like to thank the doctors and work family at Carolina Digestive Disease & Palmetto Endoscopy Suite for their loving support and care over the years.

Cindy, Sarah, Katie, Paul, & grandkids extend their gratitude to our immediate and extended family, friends, and family in Christ, near and far, for the outpouring of love, prayers, encouragement, and support for so many years. You have been a blessing to our family, our cup runneth over.
