Dallas Waddell Obituary

Dallas Homer Waddell, 76, of Lexington, SC, passed away with his family by his side on November 14, 2021, after a long illness. Dallas was born on April 6, 1945, to Homer and Leona (Bowles) Waddell in Virginia.

After graduating from Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, Virginia, he went on to have a long career in the grocery industry working for grocery chains including Kroger’s, Lowe’s Foods and Food Lion. He retired in 2006. Dallas married the love of his life, Margaret (Marie) Waddell (Stevenson) in 1964. They shared 57 years together. Their lives were blessed with a daughter Leigh Anne, son in law, Steve Neal of Columbia, SC and two grandsons, Richard Neal (New York City, NY) and 2nd LT Thomas Neal (Ft. Campbell, KY). Dallas was extremely proud of his grandsons and bragged about them often. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. Dallas also had a love of classic cars. He and Marie spent several years traveling the country in their RV with their close friends Jenny and Jerry before settling down to enjoy their retirement in Carolina Springs (Lexington, SC).

Dallas was predeceased by both his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie, his daughter Leigh Anne (Steve) and grandsons, Richard and Thomas and grand pets Olive and Samwise. He was blessed to have many friends in his life especially his special friends, Jerry (deceased) and Jenny Oyler, Joe and Brenda Hutson, and Pat and Roy Fulmer.

The family requests donations on Dallas’s behalf be made to Wounded Warriors Project.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 27th at 2pm at Barr – Price Funeral Home, 609 Northwood Road, Lexington, SC.
