Connie Catt Bucknam, 73, born in Columbia, SC, wife to A. Herbert Bucknam for 53 years, passed away on June 25, 2020. Connie was the daughter of Lila C. Catt and the late George M. Catt of West Columbia. She attended Lexington County schools, graduating from Lexington High School, and attending the University of South Carolina.
She worked for the SC Tax Commission, later the SC Dept. of Revenue for more than 30 years. She and Herbert met there, quite by accident, and from there a life of LOVE began.
She enjoyed family and friends. She supported her children as they played sports at the Pineview ball complex. After a few years of this she found a need and founded the Pineview Girls Softball League. She continued as commissioner of that league until it was established enough for it to operate with elected officers. She enjoyed the LHS class of ‘65 get togethers. She enjoyed playing different games of cards with her lady friends. After a while they began calling themselves the LAFF ladies (Life After Forty is Fun). She loved those ladies and her card games with them. She enjoyed the best of times, laughing and just having fun as well as going to the beach with them. She, over the years, enjoyed many pets, German shepherd’s, Pekingese, Shih Tzu, Golden Retrievers but spoke very fondly of Farina.
She is survived by her husband. She was the proud mother of 3 children, Kelli B. Mills (Tommy) of W. Columbia, Jeffrey S. Bucknam (Courtney) of Lexington and Dara B. Threatt (Chris) of W. Columbia. a brother Michael D. Catt (Susan) of Lexington, a sister Judy Bari (Douglas) of Stanardsville, VA and preceded in death by sisters Lisa D. Heydinger (Michael) of Summerville, SC, a twin sister Bonnie Faye Williams, who died shortly after child birth and a half-brother Barry Ostro. She was most proud of her 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She loved them all with all of her heart. There isn’t anything that she wouldn’t do for them. They all enjoyed seeing her smile.
Pall bearers are going to be her 6 grandsons and a grandson-in-law, Dylan Mills, Christopher, Corey, Tyler and Taylor Threatt, Cameron Bucknam and Richard Thompson.
All current and former LAFF ladies are honorary pall bearers.
