Christopher “Chris” Allen Johnson, 56, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was born on December 22, 1969, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Chris was known for his larger-than-life personality, his gift for storytelling, and his unforgettable tall tales that could get anyone fired up. He never met a stranger and had a way of bringing laughter and energy into every room he entered.
In his younger years, Chris found great joy in deer and coon hunting alongside his father, creating memories he carried with him throughout his life. After graduating, he became a long-distance truck driver, a career he dedicated himself to for many years until a work injury and declining health led to his retirement.
Chris shared a beautiful love story with his wife, Melanie Glenn-Johnson. The two first met as teenagers over 40 years ago and went on a few dates. Life took them in different directions, but years later they reconnected. After just a few more dates, they quickly realized they were meant for each other. They went on to share nine wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of playful aggravation. Chris adored Melanie and loved teasing her, which was just part of their special bond. Together, they enjoyed going to gun shows, taking care of one another, and spending time with their beloved “fur babies,” Kinser, Jarrett, and Chrissley.
Chris loved God, his family, and his guns, and he lived his life with passion to all three.
He was predeceased by his father, Stanley Daniel Johnson; his mother, Shirley Ann Johnson; and his brother, Stanley “Stan” Daniel Johnson Jr.
Chris is survived by his devoted wife, Melanie Glenn-Johnson; his sister, Angie Thomas (Eddie); his nephews, Kevin Lucas (Heather), Preston Thomas (Brittany), and Cory Thomas; his niece, Kayla Richbourg (Russell); and his great-nephews and nieces, Cooper and Cannon Lucas, Reese and Presley Richbourg, Brice and Natalie Thomas, and Kaylee Thomas; and a number of extended family in South Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.
Chris will be remembered for his humor, his stories, and the love he had for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel 609 Northwood Road Lexington, SC 29072.
