Cayce-Funeral service for Chief Arthur Gramling Dantzler, Retired, 87, will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 16, 2026 at Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family asks that all law enforcement and fire personnel act and be recognized as honorary pall bearers. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm (Noon) to 1:45pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth Children’s Home, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Trinity Baptist Church. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
Mr. Dantzler passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026. Born in Orangeburg, SC he was a son of the late Uge Mack Dantzler, Sr. and Dorothy Gramling Dantzler. He volunteered for 60 years for the City of Cayce Museum; he was there when the museum started, a founding member, and a volunteer for upkeep and maintenance. He served seven years in the US Army National Guard, was a Cayce Mason and Jamil Temple Member. Mr. Dantzler provided dedicated service to Cayce citizens and the City of Cayce for over 60 years. He worked for the City of Cayce Public Safety from 1959-1998 while serving as Chief from 1992-1998. Mr. Dantzler worked in partnership with state and federal law enforcement and fire agencies for over 40 years.
Surviving include his wife of almost 67 years (March 7, 1959), Barbara Owens Dantzler; children, Tina Dantzler, Dr. Karen Buchanan (Dr. Neal McCollum), Peggy Dantzler, Ann Griffis, Tim James, Chip Johnson, and Pattie Rabon; sister, Jeanette Kinder and Jackie Dantzler; and nieces and nephews, Danny, Jeffrie, Al, Lisa, Kim, Tammy, and Kippie.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Ann D-Aiello and Margie Carol Dantzler; brother, Uge Mack Dantzler, Jr.; and nephews, Ralph Ulmer and Dean Ulmer.
The family wishes to thank Heart of Hospice nurses, social workers, and chaplain, Amedisys Hospital staff (Lexington Medical Center) and Lexington Medical Center ER and North Tower 9th floor nurses, aides, and doctors.
