Cheryl Lynn Southerland Deichmann

Cheryl Lynn Southerland Deichmann passed away at the age of 78 on the evening of December 30th, 2025, in Lexington, SC. Cheryl was born in Wilmington, NC, on October 1st, 1947, to the late Geraldine Avant Southerland and Henry Jackson Southerland.

Cheryl was an active member of the community and of Lexington Baptist Church. She was involved in the LBC Praise and Worship Choir, Legacy Choir, and women’s ensemble, which she dubbed the “Faith Ladies Ensemble.” Cheryl was also part of the Senior Adults ministry and loved playing cards with her community group.

Cheryl was employed as a nursing assistant and served as the financial secretary for the Lexington Baptist Church. She was also a devoted stay-at-home mother to two daughters.

Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Lisa Marie Deichmann and Gina Renee Deichmann; cousin,

Melanie Casper; granddaughters, Zoe Alanna Deichmann and Alexys Grace Deichmann; as well as many other loving family members. Cheryl was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be especially remembered for her adoration of music.

A celebration of life will be held in the sanctuary of Lexington Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 7th, at 2pm with the Reverend Dan Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 1:45pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Baptist Music Ministry.
