Carolyn McCartha Whittle

October 21, 1937- April 30, 2025

Services for Carolyn McCartha Whittle, 87, will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, May 5th, 2025 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am  to 12:45 pm, prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 1273 Calks Ferry Rd Lexington, SC 29072 or South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org/sc. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mrs. Whittle passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Born in Lexington, SC, she was the daughter of the late Luther Franklin, Sr. and Gladys Keisler McCartha. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, retired farmer, and wonderful Mother and “Mimi” to not only her family but also friends of her children/grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Page (Jeff), Wanda Shealy, Wayne Whittle (Susan), and Doug Whittle (Beth); grandchildren, Jamie Shumpert (Roger), Amanda Hicks (Michael), Matthew Porth (Christa), Lisa Buzhardt (Brit), Tiffany Shealy, Garrett Whittle (Kylie), Alyssa Crocker (Austin), Meghan Whittle, and Abby Whittle; great grandchildren, Conner and Nathen Shumpert, Gracyn and Bailee Buzhardt, Macie and Kayleigh Porth, Gavin and Kinsleigh Shealy, and Brady Hicks; great grandchild on the way, Lyla Whittle; step grandchildren, Chanel and Brianne Page; step great grandchild, Steele Crocker; siblings, Catherine Gable, Howard McCartha (Ann), Edith Leaphart, LF McCartha, Jr. (Betty Jo), and Helen Smith (Larry).

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Melvin Whittle; son, Gary Whittle; son-in-law, James Shealy; great grandson, Rylan Hicks; sister, Margaret Miller; brother, Brice McCartha; brother-in-laws, Grover Miller, Wayne Gable, and Wyman Leaphart, Sr.
