Carolyn Sharpe Taylor, 85, of Lexington, South Carolina, completed her journey on January 22, 2026. She was born on January 20, 1941, in Cayce, South Carolina. Carolyn was a graduate of Brooklyn Cayce High School, class of 1959, after which she became the devoted wife of 65 years, 8 months, to her loving husband, Charles G. Taylor Sr. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and endless love.
As an Assistant State Director of WIC at DHEC, Carolyn exemplified a unique blend of compassion and professionalism. Her dedication and hard work made her an invaluable asset to the organization. Carolyn enjoyed a full life of extra-curricular activities and hobbies that included: pitching for the Boiling Springs women’s softball team, watching Atlanta Braves baseball, quilting, crocheting, sewing, crafting fabrerge’ eggs, preserving & canning, baking, traveling, singing, antiquing, and writing poetry. She also served her community and church as Boiling Springs Community Club President, UMW President, and Worthy Patron of Eastern Star. Also, as church treasurer and church historian co-chair.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Charlene Harmon (Joe); son, Charles G. “Chuck” Taylor Jr. (Joanna); and daughter, Carole Allen (Brian); grandchildren, Chad Harmon (Erica), Cody Floyd Harmon, Hollie Taylor, Houston Taylor (Kaitlyn), Elizabeth Allen, and Amanda Allen; great-grandchildren, Everett Harmon, Adeline Taylor, Aria Harmon, and Riley Taylor; her siblings, Becky (AJ) Mathias, Clyde (Debbie) Sharpe, and Ginger (Randy) Black; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Virginia Sharpe; siblings, Floyd (Wilma) and Charles (Betty Jane) Sharpe; and a brother-in-law, Leonard C. Taylor.
A visitation will be held 2:00 pm Monday, February 2, 2026 at Boiling Springs Methodist Church 2373 Calks Ferry Road, Lexington, South Carolina, 29073 followed by a 3:00 pm Memorial Service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made in her honor to Boiling Springs Methodist Church, or to a charity of your choosing. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
