Carole Edwards Hair, 84, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by those she loved most, on the early morning of Friday, November 7, 2025. Born, raised, and a lifelong resident of Batesburg, South Carolina, Carole’s life was defined by her unwavering Christian faith and her deep devotion to her family.

A proud graduate of Newberry College, Carole met her future husband, “Pic", while they were students there. They shared 62 wonderful years together as husband and wife. Carole began her career at Southern Bell and later served the community as an administrative assistant for Lexington County School District 3—roles she carried out with dedication and professionalism. Carole’s greatest passion was her family; their happiness was her driving force. She delighted in doing things for others, a trait for which she was consistently remembered and affectionately described as a “sweet lady.” Her favorite times were those spent with family, especially at her “happy place” — the beach — or on cherished shopping excursions with her granddaughter and daughter-in-law. She also loved cooking for her family and decorating their home, especially for important holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she poured her heart into making it special for everyone. Beyond her profound kindness, Carole possessed a quiet and unintentional sense of humor that endeared her to those around her and made her presence unforgettable. Her commitment to her faith was steadfast. As a longtime and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Batesburg, Carole was a true pillar of the congregation, whose presence and service inspired all who knew her. Carole is survived by her loving husband, Clarence Pickens “Pic” Hair Jr.; her two sons, Clarence Pickens Hair III and Kevin Edwards Hair; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Collins Hair; and her cherished granddaughter, Lindsey Kristina Hair, who was her pride and joy. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Delman Edwards Sr. and Virginia Scott Edwards Horne, and her brother, Thomas Delman “Tommy” Edwards Jr.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Batesburg beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Ridge Crest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to First Baptist Church of Batesburg, as this is what Carole would have wanted.
