Carlita J. Horton

Mrs. Carlita Jeannine Horton, 89, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Westminster Memory Care in Lexington, South Carolina where she resided for most of the last 4 years. She was born May 6, 1936 to the late Louis Brooks and Frank Lorne Gregory. Carlita retired from the Horton Company in 2017, where she helped to establish and manage a real estate/property management company with her husband for over 40 years. Carlita was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother; she will be forever loved by her daughters, Vickie McAlister (Keith), Jane Horton, Lianne Watford (Bill), and Tammy Tremblay (Gary); 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild who admired and loved their Nana.

Carlita is predeceased by her husband, Leon Horton; son, L.A. Horton; a daughter, Jenny Wilds; and grandsons, Patrick Rich and Travis Horton.

The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. – Friday, July 25, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
