Carletha Chavis Jacobs Potter

Carletha Chavis Jacobs Potter was born on November 16, 1923 in Laurinburg, NC, she was a daughter of the late Angush and Alma Jacobs Chavis. She passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the age of 95.

Mrs. Potter enjoyed cooking for her family regularly and had many special meals during her lifetime. She was blessed and loved with family. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Potter; siblings Della Dunn, Cora Gause, Marie Harding, Angush Chavis, Furman Chavis, and John L. Chavis; and granddaughter Gena Jacobs. Mrs. Potter is survived by her children Rev. Astor L. Jacobs, Jr. (Joyce), James E. Jacobs (Carolyn), Rev. Carvie L. Jacobs (Linda Jacobs), Robert L. Jacobs (Lynn), Carletha L. Coulter (Ronnie), Angus Jacobs (Joyce); 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a great great-grandchild ; sister-in-law Eva Deen Chavis; along with many relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Potter will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia, SC. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
