Candace Lynne Howard

With deep love, we announce the passing of Candace Lynne Howard, 76, on Tuesday, July 2, 2026.  She was born in Palo Alto, California to Milton Elmer Fairley and Elsie Marie (Ball) Fairley. Candy liked to do diamond art to give to the people she loved, it was the same with her crocheting.  She also enjoyed reading, spending time with her dear friends Cindy and Brenda, playing Yahtzee with her husband (even though he always beat her), watching golf together; her favorite was Roy McElroy (even though when he was having a bad round you weren’t so sure), she also enjoyed watching Kyle Busch race, the Jacksonville Jaguars play football, and playing bingo. She really loved her time in the mountains with her husband Jimmy and visiting Pastor and sister Fletcher.  Her heart was with her husband, grandbabies and fur babies.

Candy is survived by her beloved husband, James Howard; dog, Lily; her daughter, Pearl Griffiths (David); her son, Jimmy Ledford, Jr. (Veronica); her grandchildren, Paul (Brandy), Anthony (Lindsey), Lisa (Matthew), Shalesa (Chris), Brittany (Dean), Amber Ledford, Zachary (Amber) and Elizabeth (Daniel); 19 great- grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild; as well as her sister, Penny Davidson; 4 nephews; and a niece.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Milton Elmer Fairley; stepsons, Paul Howard and Chris Howard; sister in Christ, Cindy Hatchell; and her beloved dogs, Jasper and JJ.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 310 Gator Rd. Gaston, SC 29053 on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 5pm. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
