Callie Lucile Thompson Carreau, 57, passed away surrounded by her loving family and close friends on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 after a 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer and 29 chemo treatments. Lucile faced each day with strength and hope; her spirit was never broken. Born October 1, 1961 in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Warren S. Compton, Sr. and Callie Roberts Compton.
Lucile graduated from Richland North East High School in 1978. She was a lover of music and played the trombone in the band until she graduated.
Her love for the Florida Gators and for her hero, Tim Tebow, was always apparent in tattoos and clothing, which she proudly wore on a daily basis.
Lucile was always a hard working individual. She was a loving mother and cared deeply for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Lucile’s grandchildren were the pride of her life. She will be missed greatly by all that knew her.
Survivors include her children Jennifer Renee Thompson (Fred Stallings), Sabrina Nicole Owens (Philip), Elizabeth Marie Thompson (Chris Williams); grandchildren Shane, Brianna, Logan, Levi, Jasmine, and Eli; sisters Patricia Corley; Deborah Owen (Bob); brother Warren Compton, Jr. (Kay). In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mark Eugene Carreau, grandson Ethan; and brother-in-law Vardie.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will greet friends following the service.
