Bruce Leon Harlow, born on November 19, 1948, in Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at a hospital near his residence in Ridgeway, South Carolina.
Bruce was known best for his great faith in God and his dedicated love of his family. Known also as Dad, Daddy, Grampy, Grandaddy, and Papa, he was a proud father of four, grandfather of seven, and great-grandfather of five.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and he served as a Hearings Officer for the Virginia Department of Corrections until his retirement. Bruce was an avid hunter and fisherman and found great joy sharing his love of the outdoors with his children.
Bruce was the beloved husband of Ramona Tomerlin Harlow, whom he called “the gift that God picked out to help him through life.” Together they built a life of love and service and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family in 2023.
He is survived by his children, Charles Ranse Harlow, Tatti Harlow Stinnette and her husband Robert Henry Stinnette, Tucker James Harlow, and Jessica Stilton Harlow. He is also survived by his grandchildren Autumn Stinnette Rice and her husband Theodore Franklin Rice, Tara Nicole Saunders and her husband Michael Grant Saunders, Abigail Danielle Stinnette, Heather Joy Harlow, Holly Fay Harlow, Iris May Sink, and Leon Keith Harlow. His great-grandchildren are Theodore Grant Saunders, Aria Harlow René Rice, Stella Louise Saunders, Traitin Arthur Robert Rice, and Mariana Rose Saunders. His brother Jeffrey L. Harlow and sisters Rebecca G. Harlow and Melissa D. Wickham also survive him.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Leon M. and Evelyn V. Harlow, and his brother Timothy N. Harlow.
Arrangements are being handled by Barr-Price Funeral Homes & Crematorium (Lexington), 609 Northwood Road, Lexington, South Carolina, 29072. A memorial service will be planned for a future date.
