Brenda S. Sherrill, 85, of Greenwood, SC, died at Care of the Piedmont Hospice and Palliative Care on May 1, 2026. She was born on October 11, 1940, to the late Joseph W. and Margaret E. Strickland.
Brenda married Robert J. Sherrill, Sr., in the summer of 1956, beginning a life full of adventures that followed his career in the U.S. Air Force, taking them all over the world, including stints in Germany and the Azores. Her life’s work as a cosmetologist was centered on helping others look and feel their best. After her husband’s retirement from the Air Force, she worked for many years until her retirement at Frankie Lee’s Beauty Shop in Laurens, SC.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her brother, Alan W. Strickland.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Robert J. Sherrill, Sr.; sons, Robert J. Sherrill, Jr. (Tami) and John R. Sherrill (Holly); a daughter, Annalisa Sherrill (Tim); grandchildren, Ashley Currie (Darren), Alex Brown (Julianna), Luke Sherrill (Chelsie), Greg Brown (Leah), Annalisa Bittner (Joey), Kyle Sherill (Fawn), Welles Sherrill, and Josh Johnson; great-grandchildren, Eli Currie, Jackson Brown, Reagan Brown, Micah Currie, Evie Currie, Tucker Brown, Lila Sherrill, Willow Sherrill, Violet Bittner, Katherine Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Sam Johnson and are expecting Ivory Sherrill in the near future; brother-in-law, William Sherrill (Faye); niece, Allison Sherrill (Thorsten); great-nephew, William Scheuermann; and great-nieces, Helen Scheuermann
and Phoebe Scheuermann.
The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Brenda with the Rev. Greg Brown presiding, on May 6, 2026 at 3pm at St. David Lutheran Church, 132 St. Davids Church Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170, with family visitation preceding the service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29649 or to St. David Lutheran Church. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
