Bettye Keisler Glover

Elizabeth “Bettye” K. Glover, of Gilbert SC, born March 20, 1925, in St. Augustine FL, to Mabel S. Keisler and the Reverend E. Bryan Keisler, died Tuesday, April 9, 2024, following a short illness. Bettye earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Newberry College in1945 and married Miles Jerome (Jerry) Glover in 1949. Following Jerry’s death in 1968, Bettye moved her family to Gilbert SC to be near her extended family. She raised two children as a single mother. Robert, her oldest child, being eighteen, headed to college at that time. Bettye worked full-time as a secretary, legal-secretary, and word processor. She was head of the word processing department when she retired from the McNair Law Firm in Columbia, SC. Bettye was predeceased by her parents, her brother Francis (Frank) Keisler, her sister-in-law Patience Keisler and her brother-in-law Larry Thomas.

Bettye is survived by brother James E. Keisler of Baton Rouge LA, sister Mary Ann (Tic) Thomas of Fremont NE and sister-in-law Norma Jean Keisler McGillick. She is survived by her three children, Robert Bruce Glover (Marywinn) of Grand Prairie TX, Karen Ann Glover Carleton (Craig) of Grand Prairie TX and Richard Mark Glover (Melissa) of Gilbert SC. Bettye has five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Betty reveled in her family, was an avid reader with an extensive library, loved jazz and classical music, enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the birds, traveling the world, and collecting pretty things. She adored the color blue in any and all things. May she rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 246 St. Paul’s Church Road, Gilbert, SC 29054. Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel is assisting the family.
