Betty “MaBetty” Harmon Outlaw, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the age of 93.
Born August 14, 1930 in Fairfield County, she was the daughter of the late Carl Smith and Pearl Taylor Smith.
MaBetty was a graduate of Gilbert High School and worked at Southern Bell and General Electric. She was a member of Pond Branch Methodist Church and co-founder of Midlands Gospel Singing Center where she served diligently. MaBetty loved making pound cakes to share, working in her yard and tending to her many plants.
She was the wife of the late James Harmon and the late Earl Outlaw and predeceased by her brother, Copeland Smith; sisters, Vermelle Keisler, Opal Rikard and Zelma Backman; step-son, Billy Outlaw and step-daughter, Vickie Outlaw.
She is survived by her daughters, Marcia Talbert (Kevin), Leicia Miller (Gene), and step-daughter, Kitty Spires (Roger); grandchildren, Troy Talbert (Rosetta), Tamera Talbert (Matt), Scott Miller (Melissa), Nick Miller (Chelsea), Will Miller (Katie); step-grandchildren, Christy Todd (Rusty), and Brook Spires; great-grandchildren, Kayhsen, Alex, Eli, Owen, Grayson, Quinn, Knox; step-great grandchildren, Maggie, Banks, Molly; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
MaBetty’s Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 am at Pond Branch Methodist Church, 1913 Pond Branch Rd., Gilbert, SC on Thursday, March 28, 2024 with the burial in the church cemetery and visitation to follow in the church sanctuary.
