Betty Lynn Hale Obituary

Betty Lynn Hale, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 25, 2025 peacefully in her sleep. She was a resident of Gilbert, South Carolina where she lived her later years, formerly a resident of North Fort Myers, Florida. Betty was born to Charles Johnson (a coal miner) and Evelyn Williams  on November 28th, 1940 in Jellico, Tennessee.

She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Hale & Thomas Hale, her sister Carolyn Johnson, grandchildren April Bryant, Tommy Chittum, Julie Farnsworth, Lacy Powley, Ricky Hale, Troy Hale, her great grandchildren Kylee Jessie, Skyler Farnsworth, Trinity Tyrrell, Kalynn Hale, Gavin Farnsworth, Tommy Chittum Jr, Lukas Jessie, Aubrey Powley, Mason Powley, Jacob Bryant, Kaden Farnsworth, and a great-great grandchild Lakelyn Chittum.

She is preceded in death by her father and her mother, her three brothers and one sister, and her daughter RayJean Chittum. She is also reunited with her husband of 42 years of marriage, Tommy Hale.

The memories of Betty will always be cherished by her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all of her extended family and friends. Betty had a loving and caring charisma that could light up the room. Betty was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She lived by the words of don’t worry about it, if you can fix it, fix it and if you can’t there’s no sense in worrying about it.

She was the wife of the assistant fire chief so in her early years she dedicated her time to taking lunch to the firemen at the Fire Dept. In her later years she enjoyed her retirement from the State of Florida of 31 years, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved her porch sitting.

She lived a good long life (in her words). She will be truly missed by all who loved her. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
